Oh so sly and cunning, like

a fox your words weave magic

and mischief in your own

unconventional style.  We

were birthed from your thoughts

and stanzas, grown up by the

candid look at reality and death,

matured and perished when death

took you away in his carriage.  Many

years later your work saw the light of day

and allowed your genius to be known by

all who were brave enough to see that

Hope truly was a thing with feathers.

Your kind is truly missed and well advised

to return once more and grace us with

a few more revolutions..

M. Willcox

Based on Emily Dickinsons’ poetry which touched me so as a maturing young woman,

which showed me status quo is for normal people.  😉

  1. Just a shot in the dark here, but did you also leave this page mostly white in honor of Emily D.? I read that after she lost a certain friend she only wore white after that. Nice work. Thanks for contributing to NaPoWritMo. 🙂
